William Edward Isom Simmons, age 84, passed away at 5:50 A.M. on Friday, April 4, 2003 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Isom was born January 11, 1919 in Energy, the son of Arlie and Bessie (Askew) Simmons. He was united in marriage to Ruby Boatright on May 18, 1940 at Cape Girardeau, MO, she survives.
He is survived by his wife, his son, Gary of Duquoin; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Simmons of Dumfries, VA; one brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Mary Jo Simmons of Venice, Florida; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Wilma and Wallace Peebles of Marion; Alice Jewell of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; Eva Lee Greeney of Creal Springs; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Carl and Barbara Boatright of San Marcos, CA, and Gene and Helen Boatright of South Bend, IN; five grandchildren, Diane Zara, Amy Swoboda, Travis Simmons of Springfield; Jeff Zara of San Diego, CA; and Mark Simmons of Dumfries, VA. Five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Donald Simmons and a daughter, Gloria Simmons.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion, with Gordon Lambert, Richard Switzer and Wallace Peebles officiating.
