Carl E. Garris III “CJ”, age 40, of Herrin, Illinois, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021 at his home.
Carl was born July 23, 1981 in Carbondale, Illinois, a son of Carl and Pamela R. Garris II. He graduated Herrin High School 1999. He attended John A. Logan College with a Associates Degree in Nursing. He worked as a LPN at Herrin Hospital. He loved the medical field and helping others. His dream was to return to school and work as a registered nurse or an PA. CJ enjoyed bowling, fishing, and playing pool with his friends. CJ was of the Baptist Faith and attended Southern Illinois Worship Center.
He is survived by his parents Carl E. and Pamela R. (Willis) Garris II.; one daughter, Skylar B. Milani of Montgomery, AL; one sister, Christal (Lee) Hillard of Blue Springs, MO; an aunt, Charlotte Farley of Herrin, IL, niece Brittany (Jonny) Pedersen of Independence, MO, niece Ashley (Brian)Curd of Lone Jack, MO, nephew Joseph (Stephani) Hillard of San Diego, CA, niece Emily (Tanner) Bury of Pleasant Hill, MO, niece Caitlin Hillard of Blue Springs, MO, niece Lauren Hillard of Blue Springs, MO, 5 Great Nephews, several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Numerous friends, his best buddy Billy Gooden and his furbaby Appollo

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with arrangements.
