Marion- Robert Donald Johnson, age 79, of Marion, passed away peacefully at 7:10pm on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Lourdes Hospice in Paducah, Kentucky with his loving family at his bedside.

Robert was born in Dexter, Missouri on June 14, 1941, the son of Donald Gibson and Melba (Weigel) Johnson. He married Sandra Jane Ozment in Lebanon, Illinois on August 5, 1962. Together, they have shared more than fifty-eight years of marriage. She survives in Marion.

Although officially retiring in 2002 as an accountant, Robert still found time to work for Patrick Barger CPA in Marion.

Mr. Johnson attended the First Church of God in Marion. An avid golfer, Robert truly loved the sport. He was an animal lover, especially reptiles and his cats. He was a faithful fan of Cardinal Baseball. He was a wonderful and loving husband and father who will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his wife- Sandra Jane Johnson of Marion

Son- David Scott Johnson of Du Quoin

Brother- William Edward Johnson of Murphysboro

Sister- Mary Ellen and John Blue of Shelbyville, Tennessee

Daughter-in-law- Maureen Johnson of Terra Haute, Indiana

He was preceded in death by his parents and son- Robert Mark Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Roy Pepmiller officiating. Burial will follow at Reevesville Cemetery in Grantsburg. A time of visitation will be held from 11am until 1pm on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.
