Richard William Beachey, age 82, of Pittsburg, Illinois, formerly of Three Rivers, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 7:03 a.m. at his home.

Richard was born on April 22, 1937 in Three Rivers, Michigan, the son of John and Virginia (Smith) Beachey.  He married Wilma (Fox) Tolbert on March 6, 1987 in Valparaiso, Indiana and she survives.  Richard worked as a general superintendent in construction, having worked for Tonn & Blank Construction in Michigan City, Indiana.  He was of the Presbyterian faith and was a member of the Carpenter’s Local #413 in South Bend, Indiana, a 32nd degree Mason with Acme Lodge #83 in Michigan City, Indiana, the Orak Shriner’s in Michigan City, Indiana and the Lion’s Club in Marion, Illinois.  Richard was a wonderful man and would do anything for anyone.  He was excellent at making furniture and woodworking, and loved traveling with his wife, Wilma.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 33 years, Wilma Beachey of Pittsburg, Illinois; one son, Douglas Beachey of Mishawaka, Indiana; two daughters, Darlene Barnes of Mishawaka, Indiana and Debra (Richard) Fofar of Pittsburg, Illinois; his sister, Karen (Tom) Rice of Three Rivers, Michigan; his grandchildren, Glenna Fofar, Brandon Galloway, Ryan Barnes, Richard Barnes, Jason (Marci) Barnes, Jeff (Kim) Fofar, Sammy Beachey, Mandy Beachey and Kayla Beachey; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Steven Beachey; a step-daughter, Vickie Galloway; and a step-son, Mike Tolbert.

Funeral services will be held at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion, Illinois on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Keith Owens officiating.  Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. Masonic rites will be performed by the Masonic Fellowship Lodge #89 of Marion.

A time of visitation will be held at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

For those who prefer, memorials may be made to the Lion’s Club of Marion.  Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home; 800 N. Market St.; Marion, Illinois 62959.
