Peggy L. Riggs, 81, of Davis Junction, formerly of Spillertown, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at 10:10 am at her home.

She was born January 15, 1939 in Williamson County the daughter of Joe D. and Lillie (Dippey) Ferguson.  She married Olaf Riggs on May 2, 1958 in Elgin and together they shared over 30 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on March 10, 1989,

Peggy retired as a supervisor at the Elgin State Hospital.  She was a faithful Christian who loved the Lord with all of her heart.  She loved gardening and riding in Janet’s “racecar”, shopping and getting her hair and nails done.  Peggy’s daughter Janet runs a day care and she loved being with all the daycare children.  She loved to sing, especially religious songs, with Janet and Diana.  Peggy especially enjoyed her one and only vacation which was a family cruise to the Bahamas.

 She was a loving person; loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  They were her life and she could often be heard telling her kids “I love you the mostest”.  Peggy lived a beautiful life full of laughter.

Survivors include her: Five children; Barbara (Steve) Lampkins of Sycamore, Timothy Riggs of Herrin, Janet (Brian) Kittleson of Davis Junction, Diana (Mike) Riggs-Brown of Johnston City, Billy Riggs of Sycamore; many grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  Two brothers Jim Ferguson of Geneva and Vernon (Wanda) Ferguson of Spillertown.  Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Proceded by her Parents, husband – Olaf Riggs, grandson Rob Redman,  four brothers: Larry Ferguson, J.D. Ferguson, C.W. “Jerry” Ferguson, Marvin Ferguson and two sisters: Judy Norris and Anna Faye Moorman.

DUE TO HEALTH CONCERNS RELATED TO THE COVID-19 VIRUS AND BY THE SIGNING OF EXECUTIVE ORDER BY GOVERNOR J.B. PRITZKER, private visitation and funeral services will be held at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Goldman officiating.  Burial will be in Davis Prairie Cemetery. 

For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.  Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois  62959.

    Peggy was a very sweet Lady. We got the pleasure of being with her on the cruise to Bahamas and she was so cheerful and such a joy to be around. Smiled all the time. Our condolences to the family. Lots of love to all.
