Mildred N. Simpson, 95, of Springfield, formerly of Marion, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020 at 7:05 pm at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.

Mildred was born November 4, 1924 in Marion the daughter of Chester and Grace (Barker) Motsinger. She married Kenneth Summers on September 27, 1942 in Perryville, Missouri and he preceded her in death on December 23, 1975. She later married Paul Simpson on November 5, 1984 who preceded her in death in April, 1997.

She was a member of Third Baptist Church of Marion, a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.  Mildred retired after 27 years from the Bank of Marion.

Survivors include her: Daughter – Debbie (Dean) Spindler of Springfield

Three grandchildren

Five great grandchildren

Nine nieces and nephews

Preceded by her Parents; two husbands; two daughters – Kendra Summers and Cathy Hamer and two brothers – Gymple and Marvin Motsinger.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 24, 2020 at 2 pm at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Brother Ron Cremeens officiating.  Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday from 12 pm until the time of service at the funeral home.

For those who prefer memorials may be made to Third Baptist Church.  Envelopes will be available and accepted at  Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois  62959.

    Debbie, sorry to hear about Aunt Mildred. I would have come to the service but did not know about her passing until today 2/27. I hope and pray you are okay and her passing was peaceful. Thinking and praying for you.
