Mary Lou Atwood

Mary Lou Atwood, age 79 of Benton, passed away at 1:25 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born on January 20, 1941 to the late Robert Lavern and Ruth Jane (Knight) Beatty. She married Alva Dean Atwood, and he preceded her in death on July 18, 1980. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed by her loving family.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Karen Jane Atwood-McDaniel and Fiancé Jerome McDaniel; seven grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, Shawna, Dakotah, Alizay, Tanner and Nico Atwood; six great grandchildren, Zayden Atwood, Zariah Lee, Zaelynn Lee, Tristen Atwood, Elijah Atwood, Isabella Atwood; sisters, Phyllis McMahon of Benton, and Sue Risley of Sesser and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Alva Dean; daughter, Rebecca Lynn Atwood and grandchild Lavender Atwood

Mary’s wishes were to be cremated and no services will be held at this time.

Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home is assisting the family with final arrangements.

    Mary was like a mom to me I loved her so so much she always knew when i was bad cause she would call me by my full first name and she knew i didn’t like it but I always laughed you will never be forgotten love you for always mom Mary
