Jack A. Stewart, age 79, of Marion, Illinois, formerly of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away on February 22nd, 2020 in his home surrounded by family.  Jack, born May 11th, 1940, was the son of the late Donald and Josephine Stewart.  He was married to his bride of 57 years, Sherry (Stults) Stewart on June 2nd, 1962.

Jack was self-employed in furniture and carpet cleaning.  He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Indiana Army National Guard from 1962-1968.  Jack loved golf, Notre Dame football, working in his yard, and barbershop quartet music, as he previously sang in a group.  Jack was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Marion.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry, his two children, DJ (Lisa) Stewart and Kelly (Bill) Stewart, his four grandchildren, Tyler (Dominic) Vitale, Emily (Ryan) Null, Jack Fenger, and Kaya Fenger, his two great-grandchildren, Carter and Murphy Vitale, his twin brother, Jerry (Sharon) Stewart, his sister-in-law, Tanna Stewart, his three brother-in laws, Jeff (Jo) Schrader, Jerry (Nancy) Stults, and Rick (Teri) Stults, many nieces and nephews, and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Robert Stewart, his nephews, Greg Stewart and Jon Stewart, and his brother-in law, James Stults.

A celebration of life will be held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Marion, on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. with Reverend Lance Leeds officiating.  A time of visitation will be held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.  Envelopes will be available and accepted at the church or by mail to Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 N. Market St., Marion, Illinois 62959.

Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with the arrangements.

    So sorry to hear about the passing of Jack. Always enjoyed talking with him in the neighborhood and at the Hub. He always kept his and his son yard looking great in our subdivision. He will be missed by all. May GOD be with this family. Our prayers are with you. Jack was a great guy to know.
