Pittsburg- Billy Eugene Buttrum, age 87, of Pittsburg, passed away at 7:45am on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Marion.

 

Billy was born on November 1, 1931, the son of William Ezra and Lena (Jones) Buttrum. He married Nina Mae Sims in Marion on July 26, 1957. She survives in Pittsburg.

 

Prior to his retirement, Billy worked as a truck driver. He was a proud United States Army Veteran.

 

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law- Steve and Brenda Buttrum of Pittsburg

Grand Godchildren- Jeremy Davis, Jason Davis, and Jennifer Clark

Three brothers- Harold Buttrum of Marion

Ronnie and Sharron Buttrum of Marion

Danny and Sherry Buttrum of Murphysboro

Sister-in-law- Frances Addie Buttrum of Pittsburg

Sister-in-law- Nancy and Allen Marks of Marion

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers- Norris and Edward Buttrum, three sisters- Lucille Adkins, Ruby Ewing, and Frances McDonald, two sister-in-laws- Linda Emery and Pudge Sims.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Darrin Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Coal Bank Springs Cemetery with military honors provided by members of the Marion VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147, and the National Guard Flag Detail Unit. A time of visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.
