Herrin- Rose Julia Turner, age 93, of Herrin, passed away at 1:40pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.

Rose was born in Muddy, Illinois on December 9, 1921, the daughter of John and Margaret (Veigh) Andras. She married Howard S. Turner in Benton on November 28, 1946. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2000.

Mrs. Turner was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include-

Daughter and son-in-law- Laura and Hal David Nicholson of Marion

Two Step Grandchildren- David Alan Nicholson of Kevil, KY

Stephanie and Tracy Sullivan of Kevil, KY

Two Step Great Grandchildren- Jake and Bailey Sullivan of Kevil, KY

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother- John Andras, five sisters and three brothers-in-law- Ida Andras, Ethel Andras, Margaret and Hall Dalby, Liz and Bill Fozkos, and Mary and Teno Cena.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will follow at Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton. Visitation will be held from 9-11am on Saturday at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.

    Rose has been my neighbor for over 20 years. I will miss her and our visits. She was an eternally happy woman, who loved to share her joy. I am sad at her passing, but know that she is now a bright light shining for all to see. Until we meet again, Rose. Peace be with your forever.
