Bertha Jeanne Pennock, 92, of Marion passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 4:43 pm at Herrin Hospital.

Bertha was born July 17, 1922 in Kerrado France the daughter of Alain and Madeleine (Sawson) LaMarc. She married Robert LeRoy Pennock on November 26, 1951 in Moberly, Missouri and together they shared over 42 years of marriage until his death on February 16, 1994.

She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Marion. Bertha retired as an LPN, previously working at Marion Memorial Hospital and Anna Mental Health.

Survivors include her;
Two sons;
Robert LeRoy Pennock, Jr. of Marion
Alain Eugene Pennock of Marion
Four grandchildren;
Joseph Pennock
Angela Pennock
Caleb Pennock (Shanna)
Elijah Pennock
Two great grandchildren – Leo and Mikie

Preceded by her Parents, Husband, Infant brother and daughter-in-law Kim Pennock.

The Funeral mass will be Monday, June 1, 2015 at 11 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Monsignor Thomas Flach officiating. Burial will follow in San Carlo Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5 – 8 pm at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.

For those who prefer memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois 62959 and at the church the day of the service.

    Diane and I met Bertha when we moved to Marion in 1977. Her life story is an amazing tapestry of perseverance and overcoming obstacles that most of us can’t imagine. She was a good neighbor and friend and we will miss her.
