John Milligan

Marion- John Milligan, age 96, of Greenfield, Indiana, formerly of Marion, passed away at 12:50pm on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the MorningPointAssistedLivingCenter in Franklin, Indiana.

John was born in Marion on June 14, 1917, the son of Frank and Nettie (Williams) Milligan. He married Esther Thompson-Beasley in Marion on June 30, 1950. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2007.

Mr. Milligan was a member of the ThirdBaptistChurch in Marion. He was a proud United States Army Veteran of the 87th Infantry, having served in the European Theatre during World War II.

Survivors include his daughter- Deborah and David Daniels of Greenfield, IN

Son-in-law- Alan Fox of Wilmington, IL

Grandson- Derik Daniels of New Palestine, IN

Granddaughter- Dana Daniels of Greenfield, IN

Granddaughter- Tricia and Jason Smith of Coal City, IL

Great Grandchildren- Danielle Fox, Cassandra Skenandore, Zach Fox

Lanie, Xander, Zoe, and Miley Smith

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife- Esther, daughter- Arlene Fox, two grandsons- Todd and Terry Fox, and sister- Floy Johns.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Third Baptist Church in Marion. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion with military honors provided by Marion VFW and American Legion Posts with assistance from the National Guard. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00pm on Monday, March 10, 2014 at the Third Baptist Church in Marion. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to the Third Baptist Church in Marion. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home; 800 N Market Street; Marion, IL 62959.

    dear daniels family.. I am so sorry for you loss and i know how it is to lose a loved one. Although I had only met john just a few time he was a very sweet man. i remember Dana telling me about the walks him and his wife used to do everyday at washington square mall. Now they are reunited hand and hand again to contiue their walks in heaven. If there is anything I can do please let me know.. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Love ya guys.. Darlene
