Frances was born in the Philippine Islands on June 4, 1925, the daughter of Felix and Florentina (Adriatico) Tauro. She married Harold Dean Emery on May 17, 1947. They were married in the Philippine Islands, at Manila, where Harold was stationed while serving in the United States Army. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2002.

Those left to mourn her passing include two sons; Ben (Dianna) Emery of Herrin and Richard Emery of Herrin; three daughters; Lynda (Jeff) Rowan of Makanda, Brenda (Darrel) Murray of Herrin, and Lisa Emery and special friend Debbie Gosnell of Herrin; five grandsons; two granddaughters; one great grandson; five great granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harold.

The family would like to thank Dr. Pramote, the nursing staff at Herrin Hospital, the staff at Davita in Marion and a special thank you to the staff of Parkway Manor in Marion.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with her grandson, Mr. Ryan Murray, officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home.

I was very sad to hear that your mom had passed away. Your mom and me have been good friends since we were 18 years old and waitresses in a restaurant in Manila. She stayed with her relatives in Manila while I stayed with my brother, Fred. Her cousin, Emilio, would write home to her parents and tell them what your mom was doing, which she didn’t like at all. We shared many good times. I will miss our long telephone calls. I’m so happy that I got to see your mom and all of you a few years ago. I loved her garden and all of her flowers. Keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Leony

I am so grateful I was able to take my mom, Leony, on a vacation a few years ago to see your mom. They were so excited to see each other again! In the week that we were there, it just touched my heart to hear those two talking about everything from the war to having children, gardening, and growing old. I have never heard my mom laugh so hard as she did when she was talking with your mom in the kitchen. Still brings a smile and tears to my eyes. It was good to meet all of you, too. I’m keeping you all close to my heart and in my prayers. Your mom was a very sweet and very funny woman. Take Care & God Bless You, Sharon (Costine) Foreman
