Lewis D. Jones
Herrin- Lewis D. Jones, 71, of Herrin, passed away at 9:46 AM, Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Herrin Hospital.
Lewis was born on October 26, 1938 in Herrin to Robert L. & Olene (Edwards) Jones. He was a US Army veteran who served in Germany.
He was a tool maker at Maytag in Herrin and retired from there in 2003. He was a faithful member of Union Gospel Mission in Herrin. He enjoyed time spent hunting and fishing with his friends.
Survivors include-
Son- Chad Jones & wife Laura of Herrin
Grandchildren- Joshua Allen Jones & Nathan Robert Jones of Herrin
Brother- Donald D. Jones & wife Eva Joyce of Godfrey
Niece- Susan Lane and husband Douglas- of Godfrey
Nephew- Michael D. Jones & wife Lisa of Godfrey
Several great nieces & nephews
Several cousins
Aunt- Fern Wade- Herrin
Aunt- Irene LaViolette of Michigan
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Robert Jilek will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 Am until time of service, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Memorial donations are suggested to Union Gospel Mission Church of Herrin and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13th St/ Herrin, IL 62948.
