Lynn Dell, your dad taught at Shawneetown High School with my dad, Jimmy Mitchell. Our parents became good friends, with your mother and my mother sharing recipes, etc. I recall that sometimes we'd eat supper at your house, and other times your family would eat supper with us. I also recall that my mother shared my outgrown clothes with you, as well as some of my toys. One day I came home from school, and my mother had given away my doll that had teeth, as well as my red shoes, (which were too small for me), and I was miffed about that for some time!!!! I am 68 now, so I was a few years older than you. I believe that we both were Princesses in a high school basketball queen coronation one year. I'd lost track of your family, but I saw the obituary in the Southern Illinoisan and it brought back all these memories. My mother passed away in August....she was 90. My dad died in 1959, and was only 43. Mother never remarried. She did go to college, following his death, and taught for many years. I just wanted to know that many people are thinking of you and yours and we are sorry for your loss. Nancy Lynn Mitchell Vessell

WE ARE SORRY TO HEAR OF YOUR MOM'S DEATH. WE KNOW SHE HAS BEEN IN POOR HEALTH FOR AWHILE. DARREL & SHE TAUGHT TOGETHER MANY YRS AT C'HILL GRADE SCHOOL. SHE WAS A WONDERFUL TEACHER, PARENT, FRIEND & WILL BE GREATLY MISSED. WHEN YOU LOSE BOTH PARENTS, IT REALLY IS A WAKEUP CALL TO USE THE REST OF YOUR LIFE WISELY(FOR THE LORD!)& SUDDENLY YOU REALIZE THAT YOU ARE NEXT IN LINE FOR A TRIP TO HEAVEN.
