William Gene Williams

William Gene Williams, age 83, of Herrin, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Herrin Hospital with his family by his side.

William was born September 12, 1938 in Herrin, Illinois, the only child of William and Mary Francis (Higdon) Williams. He married Patricia Gale Bush and she preceded him in death in 1995. He was blessed to have found love again with Marilyn Kennedy, whom he happily spent the rest of his life with.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn Kennedy; four children, Terry and Jeanette Williams, Timothy and Connie Williams, Melodie and Duane Doty, and Todd and Shannon Williams; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Patricia Williams.

Graveside Service will be held Thursday, January 13, 2022, 11:30 AM at Herrin City Cemetery with his son, Rev. Todd Williams, officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with final arrangements.
