Robert A. "Bob" Miller

Energy- Robert A. Bob Miller, 75, of Energy, formerly of Peoria, passed away at 10:50 AM, Friday, November 23, 2012 at his home. Bob was born on March 1, 1937 in Peoria to August and Elsie (Lowery) Miller. He married Oceia Gordon on September 19, 1960 in Peoria. She survives of Energy. He served his country honorably while enlisted in the US Navy. He serviced various aircraft while aboard the aircraft carrier- USS Intrepid during peacetime. Once honorably discharged he began a forty year career as a car man for the Burlington-Northern-Santa Fe Railroad in Peoria and Galesburg. He retired in 2000. He enjoyed golfing with his buddies at various area courses, fishing, hunting and being outdoors with his family. Survivors include- Wife- Oceia Miller of Energy Son- Gregory Miller of Eldorado, KS Son- Brian Miller and wife Kim of Herrin Five grandchildren- Bryce and Amanda Miller of Wichita, KS Aaron Miller of San Diego Andrew and Sarah Miller of Herrin Sister- Dolores Clevland and husband Robert of Peoria Several nieces, nephews and cousins He was preceded in death by his parents and brother- Donald Miller. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Michael Henson will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM, Friday, November 30, 2012 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13th St/ Herrin, IL 62948.
