Georgette Louise Verley

Marion Georgette Louise Verley, 87, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 2:14 P.M. at her home in Marion. Georgette was born February 10, 1924 in Linton, Indiana the daughter of Arthur and Amelia (Fougnies) Mercier. She married George F. Verley on June 22, 1946 in Princeton, Indiana and together they shared over 42 years of marriage until his death on July 22, 1988. She was a homemaker and a member of the Eastern Star. Survivors include; Daughter Joyce Fisher and husband Bill of Carterville Son James Verley and wife Barbara of Oakland City, Indiana Daughter Brenda Mecord and husband Mike of Marion Seven grandchildren; Jason Fisher and wife Jennifer of Carterville Carrie Fisher and fianc Preston Wolfe of Marion Kate Fisher and fianc Jake Adams of Herrin Michelle Verley of St. Louis, Missouri Matthew Verley of Oakland City, Indiana Sean Mecord and wife Danielle of Marion Sarah Underhill and husband Zackery of Marion Three great grandchildren; Cameron and Colton Mecord and Brody Fisher Sister Lynn Bell of San Jose, California Preceded by her Parents, Husband George Verley and Brother Joseph Mercier. Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 1 P.M. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion with Rev. Stephen Palmer officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. The family prefers that in lieu of flowers memorial donations are made to the Williamson County Program on Aging of Herrin or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
