Gary L. Hendrickson

December 14, 1939 — July 19, 2013

Marion- Gary L. Hendrickson, age 73, of Marion, passed away at 5:46pm on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born in Herrin on December 14, 1939, the son of Leo and Juanita (King) Hendrickson.  He married Brenda L. Terry at Freedom Freewill Baptist Church on May 27, 1960.  She survives in Marion. Mr. Hendrickson was a member of the Center Baptist Church. He was retired from Hendrickson Body Shop.  In his spare time, Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding horses.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan.  His pride and joy were his grandkids, which he loved very much. Survivors include his wife- Brenda L. (Terry) Hendrickson of Marion Mother-in-law- Lela Terry of DuQuoin Son- Terry L. and Connie Lee Hendrickson of Marion Son- Jeff L. and LaDonna Hendrickson of Marion Daughter- Veronica L. Hendrickson of Marion Grandchildren- Amanda L. Frey Joshua L. Hendrickson Kristina M. Hendrickson Jordan B. Hendrickson Three Great Grandchildren- Brayden and Brooklyn Hendrickson Lauren Baine Two sisters- Carol and Ted Jeter of Marion Barbara and Jim Ghent of Seattle, Washington Sister-in-law- Guyla and Charlie Tripp of DuQuoin Several Nieces and Nephews He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law- Guy Terry.   Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Jerry Ford and Pastor Chris Cutsinger officiating.  Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion.  Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.  Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home; 800 N Market Street; Marion, IL 62959.
