Carol Romans

Carol A. Romans, 65, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 3:18 P.M. at St. Louis University Hospital. Carol was born February 12, 1947 in Herrin the daughter of William E. and Paralee E. (Whitecotton) Deaton. She married Steve L. Romans on March 18, 1983 in Marion and together they have shared over 29 years of marriage. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Marion, Carol had formerly worked at Marion Memorial Hospital in the Dietary Department. Survivors include her; Husband Steve Romans of Marion Son Michael Keith Chamness and wife Johanna of Pittsburg Two Grandchildren; Cecile Hill and husband L.J. of Carbondale Dustin Hill of Carbondale Mother Paralee Deaton of Marion Two Brothers; William E. Deaton, Jr. and wife Helen of Marion David S. Deaton and wife Toni of Marion Sister Janet Stilley and husband Jack of Marion Mother-in-law Mildred A. Romans of Marion Brother-in-law Jerry Romans and wife JoAnn of Salisbury, North Carolina Four Nephews; Randall Stilley and wife Kim of Marion Jason Stilley and wife Leann of Lone Oak, Kentucky Ryan Deaton and wife Tera of Marion Tyson Deaton of Marion Three Nieces; Tara Furlong and husband Kenny of Marion Christy Norman of Marion Angela Lore of Salisbury, North Carolina Several great nieces and nephews Former Mother-in-law Hazel Chamness of Carbondale Preceded by her Father William Deaton, Maternal Grandparents Jake & Rose Whitecotton and Paternal Grandparents Omer & Virdus Deaton Funeral services will be Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 1 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Marion Second Baptist Church or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
