William “Bill” C. Hughey

William “Bill” C.  Hughey, 80, of Marion, formerly of West Chicago and West Dundee, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 8:31 pm lovingly surrounded by his family at Shawnee Christian Nursing Home.

Bill was born April 4, 1939, in Ashland, Mississippi the son of Albert Lavern and Beulah Mae (Skinner) Hughey.  He married Margie Jean Owens in Holly Springs, Mississippi on November 26, 1957 and together they have been blessed to shared over 61 years of marriage.

He retired from Chicago Rawhide in Elgin as a Quality Control Inspector.  Bill was a member of the Lake of Egypt 1st Christian Church, he was a very proud and active member of the Illinois Baptist Disaster Relief team.

He is survived by his loving wife Margie of Marion, son – Gary Hughey (Angela) of Woodstock, daughter – Katherine Mills (Jeffrey) of Creal Springs, 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sisters – Iva May Holbrook, Odell Sims, Peggy Paine, brother – Zachary Wilson Hughey all of Ashland, Mississippi and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his Parents, youngest son – Markham E. Hughey, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 12 pm at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Brother Leroy Waggoner officiating.  Burial will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery.  Visitation will be Saturday from 10 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.

For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Illinois Baptist Disaster Relief or Alzheimer’s Association.  Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois  62959.
