Mary Jane Rinella

Marion- Mary Jane Rinella, age 90, of Marion, passed away at 4:00am on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Parkway Manor.

Mary Jane was born in Marion on April 11, 1929, the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (DiSalvo) Rinella. A graduate of Marion High School, Mary Jane continued her education, receiving an associate degree from VTI, specializing in secretarial shorthand. Prior to her retirement, she had worked as a secretary for General Telephone Company.

Mary Jane was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was previously active in Hearts Helping Hearts and was one of the founding members of her cherished Birthday Club group.

Survivors include her brother- Ernie Rinella; a host of beloved niece and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews; and special friend- Lalla Duty.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters- Katherine Rinella, Sara Rinella, Barbara Palmer, and Dolores Brown, brothers- Tony, Frank, Joe and Sam Rinella.

The funeral mass will be held at 11am on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion with Father Brian Barker officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9-11am on Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with final arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the Children’s Miracle Network.
