    Rick and Yvonne,

Thoughts and prayers are with you as you say farewell to your Dad–a great guy! What fine times we had, Rick, as Explorer Scouts under your Dad’s direction and mentorship. Fond memories of that canoe trip in Wisconsin. He will leave a wonderful legacy for you and your extended family. Blessed be!

To his dear family ~ Lee Roy was a vital part of Herrin and the region in the middle of the 20th Century. He was smart, caring and knew so much about what Herrin was about and what Southern Illinois had the potential to be. His guidance was always on target. He and Jeanette were a wonderful couple, talented in so many ways. Prayers for comfort and peace and hundreds of sweet memories.

Lee was great to talk to and always asked “how are things in Carbondale” as he smiled as big as he could. Brandon Family, take comfort in God’s Love.

    Ric, Leaane and Yvonne,

Been thinking a lot about your folks at this football time of year…what good times we shared…such good friends! Len and your Dad can critic the games from a bird’s eye view now and argue Cubs vs Cards …. again and again and again!
I’m so sorry for your loss…I share it, too!

I remember Lee Roy bringing his Scout troop up to the Canoe Base in Boulder Junction, Wisconsin, and his son Rick (Eric) being hired as a trainer there. He was a fine man and a pleasure to see when he and Jeanette came up on a trip. He brought some of the first girls up to the Base on his trips.
Rick and all the family have my condolences.

Lee Roy and Jeanette Brandon were wonderful hosts when in December 1974 I stopped by their home in Herrin on the way back from the Canoe Base after stopping in LaGrange to drop off Bill Baar. I was on a loop trip from Blacksburg VA to a reunion of Canoe Base staff at the Grate’s in Peru IN, Boulder Junction WI, LaGrange IL, Herrin IL, and back home to VA.
Rick, Yvonne, Leanne and family, my prayers fly up to God for you in sorrow for your loss and celebration of a life well-lived.

I was the party trainer for the crew that Lee Roy brought to Northern Wisconsin Canoe Base in Boulder Junction, WI. It was one of the first co-ed crews to attend a BSA High Adventure Base. He was a great guy, easy to get along with and you could tell his Scouts worshipped him. He was one of those people you meet in your life who was larger than life. May he rest peacefully.
