Marion Tempa A. Watkins, 89, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 10:15 A.M. at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Tempa was born March 11, 1920 the daughter of Walter Elders and Younil (Taylor) Strunk. She married Earl Watkins on June 11, 1955 in Benton, Illinois and together they have shared over 54 years of marriage.

She was a member of the Johnston City United Pentecostal Church and she retired from Marion Unit 2 Schools.

Funeral services will be Sunday, October 18, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Michael Glasco officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

For those who prefer memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Johnston City United Pentecostal Church. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois 62959.
