I have many fond memories of fishing and Hunting with Jack. We walked many a mile around Crab Orchard Lake. Although he had black lung disease, I had difficulty keeping up with his pace...I believe he could walk the legs off of anyone. He taught me to love the outdoors, nature and wood working. He was a walking wildlife encyclopedia and could name just about every plant and tree. Winter days that were too cold for hunting, were spent wittling and swaping stories. His carvings are worthy of any museum. He was often the first to volunteer in times of need. We will always miss Jack but never forget him. May God bless him and have many happy fishing days with him.

My handsome Jack as I always called him. He taught me so many wonderful things about planting flowers and trees. He always had a great big beautiful smile. He was always there to help anyone in need. The twinkle in his eyes reminded me of all the stars up in the sky. His talents are too many to name, and his carvings are a treasure. His letters were a work of his very own unique poetry, and made me laugh so much. I will miss him so much, but always with a smile on my face.

Sweet Jack - as someone else said he's probably fishing now with Lester or out in the garden planting tobacco or feeding the birds. He always amazed us (and made us laugh) with his memories of London over 50 years ago (he knew it better than we did and we lived there), and his stories of poaching on the Queen's land. He lived a full, and wonderful life, and was a real person, a warm, funny, tender man. They don't make them like him anymore and we'll miss him terribly.
