Bobby Dean Yost

Marion- Bobby Dean Yost, 80, of Marion, passed away at 2:45 AM, Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Reflections of Herrin.

Bobby was born on February 13, 1938 in Marion to William Lloyd and Ella (Kendall) Yost. He married Shirley A. Cobb on August 15, 1958 in Johnston City. She preceded him in death on October 25, 2011.

He was a retired Firefighter for the City of Marion Fire Department for more than 20 years. He also owned and operated his own Construction business, Yost Construction, and trucking business.

Bobby enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting for squirrels, deer, rabbit and quail and fishing for crappie, bluegill or catfish on the river near Golconda. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed collecting hats, raising dogs, watching horse races and drinking orange Crush. He will be missed by his beloved family and close friends.

Survivors include-

Daughter- Kim Schroeder and husband Jeff of Marion
Daughter- Joanna Parker and husband Tim of Escondido, CA
Grandson- Lee Schroeder and wife Katie of Marion
Great grandchildren- Kaydin and Kami Schroeder of Marion

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister- JoAnn McNeil and brother- William Lloyd Yost, Jr.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 11, 2018 at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion with Rev. Kerry Cox officiating. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at the graveside. Memorial arrangements were made at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.

    My family and Bobby’s had cabins on the river in Golconda and as teenagers we enjoyed many summertime activities there. I have wonderful memories from that time in my life and Bobby and his family helped make those memories. I was so sorry to hear of his death and want to extend my sympathy to his family.

    Bob and Shirley were always there for us. Bob was the most honest person I ever delt with.
    Bob and his crew built us a home in Marion in 1975/1976.
